Together we can win a Great Homes Upgrade

My name is Heather and I’m a Community Organiser at the New Economics Foundation. I’m so excited to have you board with this campaign because it’s about something we all have in common — our homes.

I’m sure you are like me. We all want to be able to come home to a place which is warm, safe and comfortable. Home is the place where we raise our kids, spend time with our loved ones, and rest. Our homes need to be safe and warm, and foundations for a healthy, decent life.

But this government hasn’t taken responsibility for improving our housing, which is draughty, wastes energy, and relies on fossil fuels that pollute our communities and our atmosphere. We’re only going to see that more this winter as we see our bills go up.

The Great Homes Upgrade is about ensuring everyone can make their home well-insulated and heated by clean, green energy — regardless of whether we rent a flat or own a castle.

Surely that’s something we all want, right? Well, so far the government’s actions haven’t met their rhetoric. There is no path to net-zero without significant government investment.

That’s where you come in. We’re going to need your support to pressure them into doing that over the coming weeks and months to make this a reality.

It contains lots of resources for you to get involved straight away such as template letters to politicians, tips and advice for persuasive conversations, and ways to build a Great Homes Upgrade team in your neighbourhood.
